Here on Valse de la Lune, you can play of five kinds of characters. Each of the character options has its own perks and drawbacks, but they all have one thing in common: the desire to find Paradise! Here are some tips and guidelines for creating a character, and a lowdown on the available character types.
Important Note: You may have as many characters as you like here on Valse de la Lune, but you must make a new account for each individual character you create.Without any further adieu... You can play as any one of the following:
- Wolves
- Flower Maidens
- Humans
-
Nobles - Other animals
The classic heroes of the Wolf's Rain series. According to ancient lore, when the world is coming to its end, Paradise will appear. The only living creatures on Earth capable of locating it are wolves. Wolves are widely believed to have been hunted to extinction two-hundred years ago. However, wolves do still exist - and in surprisingly large numbers, too. To survive, wolves have adapted a unique illusory capability. Wolves can disguise themselves as humans and pass amongst them effortlessly! A wolf's strongest instinct is to find Paradise. Although some individuals may pretend otherwise, every wolf feels in its heart a compulsion to locate that elusive heavenly place.
A wolf is strong and fast, and he knows it. He feels compelled to search for Paradise - additionally, his natural inclination is to form a pack with other wolves so that he can better protect the Flower Maiden and find Paradise.
Canon Equivalent Examples: Kiba, Tsume, Hige, or Toboe.
Using the lost art of alchemy in a scientist's lab, a strange race of artificial people known simply as hanabito, or 'Flower Maidens', were created. Like wolves, Flower Maidens are the second ingredient necessary to open the gate to Paradise. A flower maiden is typically grown in a lab, but a few grow naturally in the wild (seeds of former hanabito that escaped). The three current Nobles are obsessed with conducting research on them in their attempts to find the secret to Paradise. As a result, they are coveted by humans and wolves alike. All Flower Maidens are technically blind, but have such an incredible sensitivity to the land that they walk unhindered by obstacles. Additionally, they feed on moonlight and water - and the scent of a wolf's blood activates a primal chord in them.
A Flower Maiden is extremely fragile, but she has an innate connection to wolves and nature. Living creatures of any kind, be they human, animal, or plant, are drawn to her childish purity. Because she is literally a lunar flower in an organic humanoid body, a Flower Maiden's life span is heart-wrenchingly short (a year at best). So when a pack acquires a Flower Maiden, the race to find Paradise before she wilts is on.
Canon Equivalent Examples: Cheza
Although the world is depressing and barren, human beings are the most determined creatures alive. Despite the depressing conditions of the world, humans form cities in large bubbles that keep out the toxic air that their own ancestors polluted. It is typical for humans to live in bubble-cities (like Freeze City, for example) - although there are also Native Peoples tribes living uncovered in warmer climates (the Hmong). Most humans are unaware that wolves exist; although information about the Lunar Legend is not difficult to find. You have a lot of options for customization if you play a human because there are a whole range of jobs and races to choose from. A human can be anything from a government worker to a hobo, and a host of things in between. Let your imagination go wild!
Canon Equivalent Examples: Cher, Hubb, Iyek, and Quent.
Nobles are elite humans that live lives separate from the peons of society, normal humans. Nobles have lived apart from others for so long that they have become the equivalent of a different race. Truly, these mysterious people are at the top of the food chain in the world of Wolf's Rain. Due to their lineage and inheritance, Nobles hold enormous sway over the goings-on in individual cities. Large cities are ruled by a corresponding noble; as a result, those who are permitted to play a Noble character are few and far between. In the RP-world of Valse de la Lune, there are three new Nobles warring to unlock Paradise.
Nobles are a locked class at this time.
Canon Equivalent Examples: Lord Darcia, Lord Orkham, or Lady Jaguara.
Other animals do exist in this pre-apocalyptic world. From walruses to dogs, cats and even some more exotic species populate the barren land. They are uncommonly seen, and most keep within the close-knit communities of their own species. Most animals cannot do what wolves can do; they certainly cannot unlock Paradise. But for Valse de la Lune, inspiration was drawn from the character Mew (the caracal cat in Episode 20 "Consciously"). Like wolves, a rare handful of animals are capable of wearing a human disguise! In order for a non-wolf animal character to be successful, they need to have a motivation (ie, find a wolf pack that will permit them to join in the search for Paradise, etc).
However, like humans, it is not guaranteed that they will be able to make it to Paradise. This is the most difficult class to play well. There are a limited amount of spots for non-wolf animal characters in Valse de la Lune RP.
Canon Equivalent Examples: Mew the Caracal.
